Allergen-Specific IgE and Serum IgE: Early Immune Development Underlying Allergies

Serum IgE
A paradigm of immune development underlies allergy development and progression in early childhood. Briefly, the immune system of the fetus is maintained in a tolerogenic state, preventing adverse immune responses and rejection between the mother and fetus. Placental interleukin-10 (IL-10) suppresses the production of immune-potentiating inter-feron gamma (IFN-y) by fetal immune cells. IFN-y downregulates the production of pro-allergic cytokines, such as IL-4 and IL-13. (more…)

Cow’s Milk Allergy: Immune Response to Protein in Milk

milk allergy

Cow’s milk is the most frequently encountered food allergen in infancy, and milk allergy is often the earliest indicator that a baby is atopic. Precise figures of the incidence of cow’s milk allergy are hard to find because of the difficulties in obtaining an accurate diagnosis, differences in the populations used for research studies, and disagreement about allergy symptoms (clinical criteria) for the condition. All studies agree, however, that cow’s milk allergy is most prevalent in early childhood with an incidence of 2 to 7.5 percent being reported. (more…)

Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis Symptoms: Testing and Treatment

seasonal allergic rhinitis
Seasonal allergic rhinitis is stimulated by an allergic reaction of human body to pollen and spores. This is much depending on the season and region as they are carried by the wind. Your doctor may recommend you to undergo allergies medication that depends on your type of allergy rhinitis. (more…)

Antibodies in Food Sensitivity – IgG Antibody

antibody food sensitivity
It is common to find anti-food IgG antibodies circulating in blood, even in people who have no signs or history of adverse reactions to foods. In fact, some authorities think that an increase in anti-food IgG in some cases might be indicative of successful resolution of an IgE-mediated allergy. The subject of IgG-mediated food allergy is extremely complicated because of the nature of the antibody and the immunological reactions associated with it. The present knowledge about food allergy-associated IgG may be summarized as follows: (more…)

Antibodies and the Immune Response

Antibodies which are also known as immunoglobulin are found in our blood and other bodily fluids. Antibodies are used as a mechanism by natural immune system to identify, counteract, and neutralize foreign objects which are entered our body. B Cells is the first cell reacted when foreign objects entered our body and triggered the first alarming mode of immune system. It then try to recognize it and subsequently will proceed in the antibody production. There are five different types of antibody produced: IgA, IgG,IgM, IgE and IgD. Bellow we will discuss B Cells in antibody production process and three of the most prominent antibodies: IgA, IgM, and IgG.

B Cells in Antibody Production Process

B cells main function is in the process of antibody production. As you probably know, antibodies are complex structured molecules as result of body immune systems in response to antigens which are entered our body. Antigens are foreign subtracted objects which are mainly (more…)

Occupational Asthma Caused by Work Related Environment

work related asthma
Do you have occupational asthma or the condition where your asthma is triggered or even worsen when you are in your office or job? You are not alone in this situation. More than 10 million workers are exposed to allergens agents in their work environment, based on data from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration. Occupational asthma or work asthma or workplace asthma related to job/work is about 15 % from all kind of asthma altogether. Are you one of them? (more…)

Peanut Allergy Prevention Should Be Starting During Mother Pregnancy

peanut allergy

Recently, UK Department of Health has circulated advice aimed at reducing the development of peanut allergy. The advice, based on an expert-committee report, is that pregnant women “may wish” to avoid eating peanuts or foods containing peanut products if they or the father or siblings of the unborn child are atopic. The same advice is given for the lactation period.
