Role of The Immune System to Protect from Infectious Disease

role immune system
The immune system consists of proteins, cells and organs that are concerned with defense of the individual, primarily against the threat of disease caused by infectious organisms. An infectious organism that causes disease is called a pathogen and the individual (person or animal) that is infected by a pathogen is called the host. Not all infectious organisms cause disease and some are actually beneficial, for example bacteria living in the gut help to digest certain foods. Infectious organisms that help the host are called commensalism organisms. (more…)

Beware of Fatal Immunotherapy Reactions To Allergen Injections And Skin Testing

Allergen Injections
Allergen immunotherapy has proven to be effective in the management of allergic disease and is the only treatment that is able to modify the natural course of the disease. Its wider applicability for the treatment of allergic disease has, in part, been limited by its perceived safety profile. This study follows up previous fatal reaction surveys undertaken in the USA for the periods 1959–1984 and 1985–1989. (more…)

The Epidemiology of Allergic Disease – Asthma, Hay Fever, Eczema

Atopy can be determined as such the production of specific IgE response to common exposure to environmental allergens like dust mites, grass and cat or pets. Living with atopic allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis linked, and eczema, but not everyone with atopy develops clinical manifestations of allergy and not everyone can be detected in clinical allergy syndrome, atopic diseases, it has been tested for specific IgE for a wide range of environmental allergens. This is especially true for asthma. (more…)

The Immunological Process in an Allergic Reaction

immunological allergic reaction
Allergens are the trigger for human body allergic reaction. It is one of human immunological process to react for invader substance. We find most allergens are common in our environment. Most allergic reactions developed over the years by the immune system. If someone who has suffered from allergies for a long time, they mostly will know when their body gives immediate reaction to an allergen. (more…)

Allergic Reactions

For daily life, of course we need our immune system. Without having immune system, we could not survive long, but there are times when the immune system may harm us rather than helps us. If you suffer from sneezing and stuffy nose, watery eyes, every spring or fall, your doctor may assured your hay fever symptoms.
