In Britain, Asthma and COPD are Matters of State

Britain is one of the countries most affected by asthma: has 5.4 million people on asthma treatment, of which 1.1 million are children. Every day there three people die from asthma, but 90% of these deaths could be avoided.

It becomes so important that the national strategy for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that has just been published and contains a special chapter to asthma in adults.

One of the objectives of this strategy is to reduce by 20% unplanned hospital admissions due to asthma.

At present every day in hospitals admitted 200 people for this reason and is expected to reduce this number to 160, although the NGO Asthma UK believes that three quarters of this revenue could be avoided.
